Don't believe for one minute the "clap trap"...about it not being safe to explore Jamaica. Jamaica has the most hospitable people in the world waiting to share their stories and time with you. Of course, just like anywhere in the world, common sense pays off in avoiding petty thefts etc. Always keep alert to where your personal property is, don't leave things laying around or they will walk! If you go out onto the beach late at night, don't go alone and let your hosts know where you are going and when you expect to return so that they can be watching for you. This is common sense...
