On Thursday afternoon the Negril Community Centre hosted the launch of the Greening of Negril Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project! The launching is shown above. Concerned citizens in the town of Negril have become increasingly aware of the litter and such which is visually scarring their environment. These citizens got together and in view of the situation, the Negril Chamber of Commerce was selected to lead a broad based Steering Committee to guide the implementation of the project. The Chamber has started to work along side environmental and community groups, and the relevant government bodies such as Western Parks and Markets, the Westmoreland Health Department, the Parish Council and the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCO). The project is being support by entities such as the USAID/NEPA-NRCA.
