It's two thumbs up from Shane as the "kick off" of the FOJ, Friends Of Jamaica organization got started with a "meet and greet" mixer at this year's FOJ Headquarter's, Idle Awhile! The mixer started with a fabulous sunset (be sure to check the next Sunset of the Week!) and great food from Hillair and Shane as they blended some fine fruit punches! During the first evening's event, Wayne made sure that each person was given a tour of his room, which not only shows off the splenditude of Idle Awhile but also features some great original Jamaican artwork from JaJa Originals Art Gallery right next door. The pieces on display in the FOJ Headquarters (Wayne's room) shows a wide range of creativity from some of Jamaica's finest artists. This stunning artwork is available for purchase to grace your humble abode. Be sure to make time in your schedule next week to attend the Tuesday mixer at Idle Awhile! By the way, some of the attendees of the first FOJ event who had to leave before we got the camera out still wanted to say hello - especially Bird - who happened to be walking on the beach and looked up and saw someone she knew from her hometown at our party and after a lively discussion of music she and her friends headed back up the beach to continue thier evening. I am truly glad we got over with that conversation before the youth showed up at the mixer, we sounded like old foggies (UGH!.... we ARE becoming our parents!!! grin). Today's Negril Today picture was taken just as the party was ending - the beach had called some, the bed called others and some were probably feeling the call from mom... it was great to see the youth make this a part of their day! And the stuffed cho-cho was excellent! Two thumbs up! More FOJ events to come!
