After talking with the Spring Break reps, especially the helpful Jana Hamrell from Sunsplash Tours, we thought that you should be clued in on the taxi situation. Taxis are available at a moments notice everywhere. A legitmate taxi, one that has all the appropriate licenses and insurance is easily identifiable by the red license plate. Other drivers may offer you rides, but their insurance does not cover paying customers. Stick to the red plates. Like virtually all things Jamaican, taxi prices are negotiable BEFORE you get in the taxi. Expect to pay US$ 1 for each mile per person. Most drivers are very helpful and can assist in locating great places to eat, fun places to visit or where to get your party supplies - like a case or two of Red Stripe...
