Earth Day Celebration 2002

On the 22nd of April, the world celebrated Earth Day and Negril was no exception! Melesha Gummings, the environmental officer for the Sandals Family of Resorts hosted the 2002 Earth Day Celebration in Negril! After planting 12 new trees at Sandals, the group then moved on to Beaches for the Earth Day Competition. With the theme, "It's Our Earth, it's Our Future", an Earth Champion Competition was arranged with Rodcliffe Robertson as Master of Ceremonies (from Sandals - above left) and Racquel Brown of P.A. Consulting, Kenrick Davis of the Negril Chamber of Commerce and Rene Edy representing Negril.Com as the judges. Everton Dixon (from Beaches - above right) won first prize for his creative on stage performance of the benefits of recycling and on being environmentally aware.
